The home of  E. Jacqueline (Jakki) Hunt, former president of the Martha’s Vineyard chapter of the NAACP, on Nashawena Park in Oak Bluffs was dedicated as site #31on the African American Heritage Trail in August 2020.  Jakki Hunt’s grandmother Louise Jackson was one of the famous landladies of Oak Bluffs and Jakki spent summers on the Island throughout her childhood   Emma Maitland, the world  lightweight female boxing champion and dancer taught Jakki how to swim at the Inkwell Beach and throughout her life Ms Jakki has been a voice raised for justice
